Design - The obverse side of the coin features a replica of the shield of the Ottoman Empire - the last caliph led by Sultan Abdul Hamid II, who ruled from 1876 - 1909. The embossed Jawi letters represents the relationship with the Malay Nusantara. The orignal motif found on the reverse side of Ottoman coins of old are also replicated - with 'made in Constantine' and minted in 1327 Hijrah (1908) emblazoned on the reverse. The Padi motif used on the tag card represents the staple food of Nusantaran Muslims, which were also used as a medium for Zakat payment, one of the 5 pillars of Islam.
